Awaken OS OnePlus 6+6T New update 15th March 2022 Full Review and Test

 Last time on 5th of the March I gave you update blogpost for awaken OS oneplus 6 and 6T. That rom was pretty solid But still some users reported that mic issue in audio calls so Vikas aka Optimus and all awaken OS devs team has released new update on 15th March. Visually you will not see any difference in the rom but when you use it it's actually makes difference in usage than previous rom. As this rom is now encrypted by default you need to clean flash the rom so without wasting time lets get started for installation and review.  As you can see that last time I was on evolution-x android 12L rom. Awaken OS OnePlus 6+6T New update 15th March 2022 Full Review and Test

 Last time on 5th of the March I gave you update blogpost for awaken OS oneplus 6 and 6T. That rom was pretty solid But still some users reported that mic issue in audio calls so Vikas aka Optimus and all awaken OS devs team has released new update on 15th March. Visually you will not see any difference in the rom but when you use it it's actually makes difference in usage than previous rom. As this rom is now encrypted by default you need to clean flash the rom so without wasting time lets get started for installation and review. 

As you can see that last time I was on evolution-x android 12L rom. I will now start flashing of awaken os so first Download Awaken OS zip file and finalize zip

If you are doing first time installation you need following files :

TWRP for onepus6:

OxygenOS 11.1.2.2 FIRMWARE for OnePlus 6: (if you are not on this base rom both slots A/B)

Now go to security setting and remove all Pin and password. Now boot to TWRP by long pressing volume down + power button. TWRP 3.6 is recommended

After booting to Twrp first flash the rom zip file. After flahsing gets completed again tap install and flash finalize zip. In flahsing process don't flash dm verity because rom is encrypted and encryption will work for twrp also. 

 Now go to advance and tap flash current twrp or flash twrp installer zip and reboot back to twrp. Now  tap wipe select format data and type yes. 

IF you gets error then go to settings and checkmark rf/fm option and then format data now it should work. Then tap reboot to the system. 

After completing the setup if we goes to about phone we can see still we are on android 12 build its not upgraded to android 12.1 as evolution-x rom has already upgraded. But soon we get new update for Android 12L. This is awaken OS version aura 2.4.Security patch is still old 5th Feb 2022. So the major change in this build is shifting to 4.9.227 primus kernel. Which has big performance Improvement in the rom.This is the build created on 15th March 2022.

Performance Test:

 So let's take look of performance of the rom after changing kernel and also lots of underhood performance patches has been added in the rom. So after taking geek bench test I am. Totally surprised this test given me highest results of geek bench till the date in all Android 12 custom roms. I got 509 for single core and 2252 in multicore. These results also beats all average results of oneplus 6 on geek bench.  Also its higher that oneplus 6T also in the race of geek bench results. 

These results are just not restricted to numbers they also applies in day to day performance everything is Super smooth and just gliding on fingers. 

Bug fixed:

Next major thing in the update is fixing mic issue the mic was not  working properly when we are  normal or voip calls on previous builds. I used on app from playstore to check mic is working or not and how it's reproducing voice to other people's on calls.So it's seem very good now, i also done voice calls on normal and voip calls and tested for long duration and they seems working fine. 

External MIC fixed:

Another thing is fixed in this build is external mic. Now we can record audio also using external mic. Last time its recording weird sounds but now it's working fine. 

SafetyNet check Test:

I tested safety net check for this build and its passing same as last build.  So we can enjoy any banking related security apps without issue. 

Encryption:

Another major change is encryption. Rom now comes with encryption by default. So your data is secure now even if u r device gets stolen anytime. Even though rom Is encrypted twrp is also working with encryption means we can access storage in twrp now without flashing dm-verity means no need to decrypt the rom. But one issue is there when ever you want to Use twrp then remove pins and password from the security settings, if you keep password or patterns twrp is not decrypting the password even if you draw correct pattern or correct password. 

Final verdict:

Except these bugs fixing and and underhood improvements rom didn't have any other major changes means all customizations are same and they are just more refined now. 

So that's is all about new update new build totally matured now and competing with  oldest android 12 rom like syberia OS and giving tough fight. 

So it's worthy to upgrade to awaken OS if you really want to change the rom

Install any custom GSI rom on any device as dualboot rom

  Hey what up guys DSU LOADER is awesome implementation by Google to test generic system images that Google going to release new Android versions which can be loaded over the existing OS , with the single reboot we can go back to stock rom.Its only available in Android 10+ roms via developers setting there we gets DSU LOADER option, but that setting will load only compatible gsi packages available for your device when we tap on it , it will gets downloaded and flashed.
